Steve Miletich died on Oct. 21, 2011. He was 92 years of age. Coach Miletich was born in Albia, Iowa and was an allleague basketball player in high school. He received a scholarship from the University of Southern California and was a forward on the basketball team in the early 1940’s. He came to Beverly in 1948 as the basketball coach and was also a teacher and after coaching became the Boy’s Vice Principal. He worked for 30 years for the high school. During his years at the high school, he was much more than a coach and an administrator. He developed friendships with many of the students that endured until his passing. After his retirement, he often attended meetings of the high school Alumni Association. It was part of his nature to stay involved with those he had come to know and enjoy. He and his wife, Peggy, were married for 66 years and she passed away some four months prior to Steve’s passing. He is survived by his two daughters, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was completely devoted to his wife and family and was immensely proud of his children and their offspring. Steve was a role model to all those that knew him. Yvonne Risher Peniston died on Nov. 29, 2011 aat athe age of 92. She was a reading specialist at El Rodeo School. She leaves two daughters, 11 grandchildren and fi ve great-grandchildren.
