In Memory

John (Casey) West

I'm very sorry to report the passing of Casey West.  I spoke with his wife Jennifer who told me that Casey was living his best life in Georgia for the past few years since quadruple bypass surgery.  But unfortunately, his heart just gave out.  Our deepest condolences to Casey and his family.

I met Casey in first grade at BV. We became friendly and he invited me to his house one day after school. One might call that a play date today though I wouldn't think we were so sophisticated at the age of 6 or even in that time. I believe we just said: do you want to come over? His mom was welcoming and upbeat. Later that year his 7th birthday was clearly a good time. While we were not close, we were always good. There was a cordiality between us that remained throughout school and into many of our reunions. It was ever a pleasure to enjoy a few minutes together with a true gentleman after all the years. With deep respect and warmest regards for his wife and surviving family and friends, fare thee well old friend! There is a genuine and knowing smile lighting his way into the great beyond.

Casey and I were very close friends Junior and Senior years. We hung out thoughout our 20s up to early 30s when everyone started moving in with significant and spouses. Later on we worked together for almost 10 years in the packaging business. He was well versed in the making and selling of all types of labels his entire professional career. Later in life he found real happiness with Jennifer and they lived in Georgia for the last 5 years of his life. He loved it there and became a real "home body". He was content and happy to the end. I wish this for all of us.

Casey and I were very close friends throughout our Junior and Senior years of high school and for a few years after that We spoke about a year ago and reminisced about a Grateful Dead "acid test" we went through together at Winterland in SF. We had a lot of good times together and he will be sorely missed. I will always remember his gr8 sense of humor and his warmth and friendliness towards just about everyone he met. R.I.P. Casey.. we'll all be along to hang out again with you before you know it!

Peace

I went out with Casey as a freshman at Beverly. He was a very kind person who had a good sense of humor. I don't recall meeting him at any of our reunions, but it would have been a joy if I had. I send my best to his wife, family and friends.Glad to hear he was enjoying life in Georgia!

Sincerely,

Very sad to hear about Casey's passing. We were good friends all thru high school and beyond. He was so much fun to be around. Great sense of humor and a genuine great smile. I remember cruising in his MGB roadster (always with the top down regardless of the weather) racing down Sunset Blvd to PCH & back. Thank you for those fun times Casey!!
Rest in Peace my Brother! Mo πŸ™πŸΌπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
